The Casio EXILIM EX-H30 has been given a 16-megapixel image sensor and a 12.5x wide-angle optical zoom lens which gives users a whopping 24-300mm zoom range. It has been packed with some of the best features around but this does mean that it can seem slightly bulky when compared to other compacts.
Functions and features
The Casio EXILIM EX-H30 comes with a number of modes and automatic functions but these are balanced out with the usual modes you would find on a DSLR. Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority and Manual mode will give users more control over their photographs than many current compact digital cameras will.
There is also a quiet shooting mode for those moments when you don’t want to create a disturbance. The continuous shooting mode, however, leaves much to be desired. The camera has an ISO range of 80 to 3200 but do expect noise at higher ISOs.

On the run
It takes around three seconds before the Casio EXILIM EX-H30 is ready to shoot, the massive 24-300mm zoom lens is quite quick. Another element missing from the Casio EXILIM EX-H30 is a form of burst shooting at full resolution. The continuous mode at 4 and 10 frames per second significantly lowers the image resolution.
The auto modes do work well and exposures are quite accurate. Skin tones are also good and people are given a healthy glow. The battery life states that it will last you up to 1,000 frames with one charge and this is pretty accurate. You will only need to charge it once a day unless shooting a very high volume of images.
The Casio EXILIM EX-H30 is good value for money but, unfortunately, all the impressive features have been buried in a difficult to navigate menu system. Once users have that figured out, though, it will make a great camera for days out and holidays due to its versatility and good zoom ability.
