The Rebel T3/1100D gets three new looks

Many digital camera manufacturers have recently opted to add a bit of colour to their cameras and re-release ranges in an array of funky new colours.

Although it’s unclear whether this is to create a renewed interest in older models as sales flag and competition gets fiercer from the camera phone market, or to just add a bit of fun to their brand, there are not many professional photographers who would be seen shooting with a purple camera.

The T3s new clothes

Luckily Canon has been quite conservative in their colour choices for the new look Rebel T3s. As well as the classic black the Canon T3 Rebel kit is now available in a choice of red, brown or metallic grey for those interested. Hopefully, though, people do not make the colour of the camera a deciding factor when buying it.

Canon Rebel specs

The Canon Rebel T3 is Canons answer to the emerging compact systems camera. The major competition from the CSC comes from the compact nature of these cameras combined with the high image quality and versatility owing to the fact that they have interchangeable lenses.

The T3 has been made as an entry-level DSLR with a 12-megapixel image sensor. It has also been given Canons 9-point auto focus system and 63-area iFCL colour-sensitive metering. This reliable little camera has the Digic 4 image processor which has been tried and tested on many models before this one and gives consistently good colour reproduction and high image quality.

It can also take 720p HD video recordings and both stills and video can be viewed on the 2.7-inch 230,000-dot LCD screen. It has an ISO range of 100-6400 which cannot be expanded and noise can be expected as higher ISOs.

While it’s all well and good to give the T3 a new look this should not be the reason for buying a camera. The Rebel T3 has proven itself to be a reliable shooter in the entry-level market and this pedigree should remain its highlight.
